A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the MEET! East Dallas Networking event. It was basically a MEGA networking event put together by 6 active business networking groups in East Dallas.
Today is the 30th anniversary of my 18th birthday. Meaning, I turned 48 today.
That's thirty years of being a legal adult.
Over these 10,957 days of adulthood, I've gathered countless lessons. I'm eager to share 30 of those lessons with you. Consider this a preview of the wisdom I'll impart to my grandchildren.
“I am HipHop!” KRS One
I grew up listening to hiphop and rap in the 90’s. It now is more accepted than it obviously was when I a kid because of the topics and “in your face attitude” of the art.

However, it can be appreciated if you can understand the motivation behind it.
Shortly after my divorce, I moved back into my old room in my parents' garage—a space we never used for parking cars.
It was a hit to my ego to have to come back. But I was pretty broke and desperate, and my parents were sorta cool to the idea. I knew they would make it emotionally challenging, but that’s the price I had to pay, plus rent.
It’s an obnoxious thing to say, but hey, it’s true. Every morning, my reflection in the mirror brings a double-take. First, it’s “Whoa, that’s me!” and then, “I’d tap that.”
