On Becoming a Better Man, Human, and Father

Week in Review: Feb. 28

W

Another week in the books! Another interesting week indeed.

One of the highlights of the week involved me being recommended for a commercial audition. Yes, ME! Although I am an improv actor, I am not an actor in the acting sense of the word.

One of my fellow improvisers, Theresa, thought I fit their criteria. I gave the contact a call and set up my audition. How did it go you ask? I don’t think I did too good at all. I didn’t expect a call back and am perfectly fine with that. Ultimately for me it was about the experience. I enjoyed being in the room with all these striving actors.

Software Developer?

I am 2 weeks away from a deadline to my software ready to launch. I have a programmer that I am working with to develop it. One of the challenges in working with the programmer is being as clear as possible.

The programmer is from Bangladesh and speaks English. However, at times I am not very clear or just gets confused with some of my selection of words.

Despite that we are beginning to move forward and expect to meet our deadline. (crossing fingers)

Salsa Lessons

I finally made it back to class this week. It had been over 3 weeks since I have done any dancing. Because of that I decided to attend Jay Stylz’ Level 1 class on Monday.

I will go out on a limb and call that the Genius Decision of the Week. It was great for my confidence and remember the basic step. I felt so goof I even attended my Level 3 class on Wednesday. This class promptly reminded me that I still have a lot of work to do. A lot!

I found myself dancing at Sting on Thursday and had a great time and sweated a lot even though I still am not very good and frankly quite rusty.

Boxing and Improv

I also made my return to the boxing gym on Wednesday. Jay (yea same name, different sport) did not take it easy on me. I didn’t expect anything less from him even though I had not been there in 3 weeks also.

Luckily for me, I actually seem to have made some progress. My punch sequences are getting tighter and faster. I am getting stronger with my punches. Even my left jab is getting some power behind it and some speed. 🙂

The Week Ahead

I plan on continuing the momentum I built up this week and continue to go to my classes and push my progress.

There may be a trip to San Antonio made this week to meet with my partner with the software. We need to meet and discuss how we are coming along. He is doing a great job at spreading the word about this product. The anticipation for it is getting intense!

Oh, I almost forgot I have a website to finish. It has been nearly complete for over a month, but it may finally come to completion tomorrow. Whew.

That’s it for now… Talk to you guys later.
